This is a slightly brown edge, the center Ruby eyed with a subtle fragrance of Berry, middle fruty the taste and smell is good enough. Feels like a thin layer of sweet ripe strawberries, and then slightly overlap herbal bitterness which after 30 minutes settles a little. Weak acid, slightly astringent tannins are what you feel weak. The wines of Piemonte are treacherous and expensive but since they've been working in experimental vineyards at Castello Grinzane conducted by Camilo Cavour -- later Conte di Cavour, leader of the Risorgimento and first Prime Minister of Italy -- this was the birth of modern wine in the Piemonte. This Barolo is a Nebbiolo Variety, Nebbiolo is a fickle grape famed as much for its pale appearance as for its tannic character and produces some of the most perfumed and richly flavored wines. Though generally only medium-bodied, the wines possess rose and anise scented aromatics and deep flavors of cherry, orange peel and subtle green herb tones.
