Merlot

IMORI  WINE
Appellation Controlee
Variety; Merlot.
Producer (Winery) Ajimu (安心院)
Region: Japan
Sub-Region Ajimu Valley
Harvest (Vintage) 2008
Blend of species mainly in the fermentation using the Merlot produced in the area called the Valley of the town known as Ajimu newts. Tastes Raspberry, spice, and gives the impression derived from a complex aroma of cinnamon oak aromas. The rich flavor with a bitter feeling better fruit. I strongly recommend this delicious wine from Japan.90 pts.|Priority : ★★★★ |
BONTERRA
Appellation Mendocino County
Variety; Merlot.
Producer (Winery) Bonterra Vineyards
Region: USA California
Sub-Region North Coast
Harvest (Vintage) 2006
Opened and poured but it was a little tannic and powdery so I left it open for about 25-30 mins. Huge difference. The nose is really full of blackberries and blackcurrants with just a hint of clove. The palate is very smooth with strong cherry flavours and a little dark chocolate. It really doesnt disappoint but there're better for that price.70 pts.|Priority : ★★ |

Enjoyable wine. Initial Woody Toasted Oak& Coffee Flavors,Followed by Fruit Berry Cassis & Dark Cherres,Medium Dry and a little flabby with firm tannin Lacks acidity that throws the fruit and tannins off.Nice nose. Good clean merlot. Not the best, but perfectly OK. Stood up very well with cold avocado soup (accented the cumin) and roasted pork tenderloin with chipote .70 pts.|Priority : ★★ |
