This is rather soft on the nose with no much to smell, somewhat indistinct and candied fruit and dark plum notes. There’s a hint of Cherry and rose some light and ease drinkable. On entry, this is a bit dry There is not noticeable residual sugar here giving this a soft fruitiness, but there is enough balancing acid and stiff little tannins to prevent it from becoming cloying. On the palate this is fruity with baked cherry fruit that stays little with a the moderate finish. It's a pretty simple and easy Pinot Noir. I paired this with fish and chips & pasta that happen to be very good Mach.

Burgundy Wine Label Information

The concept of terroir is deeply rooted in Burgundian wine culture, and the variation in the soils and climatology of its vineyard sites (or climats) is the basis of Burgundy's wine-classification system. When judging the quality of a Burgundy, its producer is of key importance, but the plot of land where the grapes were grown is also a primary indicator of quality. Therefore, unlike Bordeaux, many Burgundy wine labels display a particular vineyard name along with their quality designation, and the appellation under which they were produced.

The vineyards of Burgundy are officially classified by the INAO, the French government organization responsible for the country's appellation system. Each site is ranked according to the quality of its terroir, and will fall into one of these categories:

Grand Cru: These are the highest-quality wines, produced from a relatively small number of vineyard sites within the Cote d'Or and Chablis sub-regions. There are 32 Grand Cru sites in Burgundy, each with its own independent appellation. Some Grand Cru appellations (e.g. Chablis, Corton) permit labels to specify which exact part of the Grand Cru area the wine is from (e.g. Chablis Bougros, Corton Renardes). The label example above shows 'Chambertin', which is a Grand Cru vineyard in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin.
Premier Cru: These sites are not on a par with the Grand Crus but still are of high quality. Premier Cru wines are made under a communal appellation, but are permitted to state 'Premier Cru' to show their superior provenance. If a single vineyard site was used, its name may be hyphenated directly to the village name as the appellation title. So a wine from the Perrieres climat in Meursault may be labeled either as Meursault-Perrieres or as Meursault Premier Cru with the Perrieres vineyard name stated below.
Communal or village appellation: These wines are produced from grapes grown in vineyards of supposedly lesser quality than Grand Crus and Premier Crus. The grapes may come from a single vineyard site or several. The appellation title will state simply the name of the village, e.g. 'Gevrey-Chambertin' or 'Puligny-Montrachet'.
Regional appellation: These are wines produced from a much wider 'regional' catchment area than a single vineyard or village.
The Bourgogne appellation is the widest, covering all of Burgundy and even some land beyond. The labels may state simply Bourgogne, or give sub-regional appellations such as Bourgogne Hautes-Cotes de Nuits. Confusingly, there are a number of villages and vineyard sites which may append their name to the Bourgogne appellation, including Bourgogne Chitry and Bourgogne La Chapelle Notre-Dame. The regional appellations cover Burgundy's rose and sparkling wines (e.g. Cremant de Bourgogne), as well as those made using 'lesser' grape varieties, such as Aligote and Gamay.
Beaujolais, which is sometimes considered a part of Burgundy, has its own classification system. Its finest wines come from ten villages known as the Beaujolais 'Crus', with each one imparting its own character to the wines. The other two appellations appearing on Beaujolais wine labels are Beaujolais and Beaujolais-Villages, the former covering the whole Beaujolais region, the latter a specific sub-section of the finer land.

This is one crazy wine. Deep garnet color - looks like it is one day old. Rather forceful, red fruited nose that displays considerable power. Ripe and new worldish, but nice. The wine us all over the place on the palate. Some nice ripe fruit, but a huge finish of raw stem tannins is frankly unappetizing. The fruit has matured but I am afraid the raw structure is just too much. Oh well, at least it was cheap.60 points. | Priority : ★ |

This is a Bright, deep red-ruby. Very sexy aromas of raspberry and sandalwood. Dense, sweet and spicy, with a tight core of fruit and strong acidity giving the wine verve and a light touch. Very deep crimson. Combination of seductive nose but pretty severe on the palate. Marked acidity.Flavors of raspberry, leather and smoky, spicy oak emerge with aeration, but the wine maintained its firm shape and impression of weightlessness. This Grand Cru Pinot Noir is fancy to the view not to the paled, it didn't make a grade in smell neither taste and too dry to my liking.60 points. | Priority : ★ |

Simple and unpretentious reasonably priced. Makes a nice apertif does well with salty hors d'oeuvres. Salmon peach rose color makes it festive. Good acidity and creamy yeast aromas with some fruit makes it a good palate refresher. Low alcohol gives it a fairly light touch before dinner. 60 pts | Priority : ★★ |

This wine was powerful and full of life. Good, chunky colour, powerful, lovely fantail nose, robust and earthy on the palate with plenty of fruit left. This is drinking beautifully now but should hold up for another 5+ years. 60 pts | Priority : ★★ |Domaine(Winery,Producer); Bourgogne

La Virgin Bourgogne. Stem-driven perfumed aromatics. Lots of red fruit to start but short finish and less spice than I ever remember from this wine. Not as good as other bottles I've had, I wondered if this showed a little heat damage.

Not as good as its younger brother but still no complains at all a typical Chambertin in a word. Red and black fruit on nose, but mostly red fruit on palate - strawberry and red cherry. Short and simple flavors, very primary, light on the spice, but flavorful and balanced. No much to say simple and the best.

Black fruit on nose, spice more in background. Same dense fruit on palate with lots of tannins and acid, so this needs another 3+ years to fully integrate. there is a slight muddled element emerging in the middle and end that I didn't really enjoy, so hope it's just this bottle.

This offers a tremondously balanced nose with refined candied cherry and sweet spices. The wine comes across airy, ample and with plenty of finesse. There's generous complexity here and an extremely attractive aromatic balance that is shone through by piercing spiceness. Subtle tannins, sappy sour cherry and a vibrant spices characterize the palate. Super! Rebuy: yes!

Big black fruit on nose, continuing on to the palate. Chantal Tortochot-Michel has revived this important estate in Gevrey Chambertin since taking over from her father, Gabriel, in the late 1990s. Her skillful winemaking has produced a range of lively, fruit-laden wines which are accessible, young and yet promise to develop well over several years. Mild, strawberry and spice, elusive at times, at its best a lovely sweet core. 60 pts | Priority : ★ |

This Pinot Noir is one of those wines that impress you when you see them but upset you when you drink them, on the nose a bit spice with flashes of cherry and oak in the mouth, the taming is too much dry, though it isn't bad it gives you much less of what it offer you in such of elegant bottle and for what you think you are paying for is what you get, but this is not the case. The same day I tried a much cheaper wine from Chile the "Arboleda"that happened to be better than this one.60 points. | Priority : ★ |
